A voice on the phone against discrimination

In Paraguay, the "Rohendu" hotline (Guarani for "I hear you") offers support and guidance to the LGBTI community experiencing discrimination, as well as to their families and friends. "It's not normal to be mistreated," emphasize the videos promoting the hotline. It operates Monday through Friday and is free to access from any phone.  

Violent attack by a gang on three trans activists

Around twenty men attacked trans activist Alessandra Luna and two companions in Glew, Buenos Aires Province. They beat them for twenty minutes and stole all their belongings. Today they expanded their complaint at Provincial Prosecutor's Office 20 in Lomas de Zamora. "We were terrified by the morbid curiosity of those who were watching and filming," Luna told Presentes.

First LGBTI Public Hearing in the Peruvian Congress

In the same week that the equal marriage bill was introduced, the first public hearing to advocate for and debate the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people was held yesterday. Congresswoman Indira Huilca, a feminist from the Broad Front and a leading advocate for the LGBTQ+ rights agenda, opened this historic afternoon, which included several discussion panels. "We want to bring the LGBTQ+ agenda to the Bicentennial," she said.
