"I was fired after 16 years: I was the only trans person in that Ministry"

Casandra Sandoval is a feminist journalist, trans activist, and national secretary of the CFTTA (Argentine Trans and Travesti Federal Assembly). Since 2002, she has worked on the team of the Undersecretary of Family Farming at the Ministry of Agroindustry. A week ago, she received her dismissal notice after working for almost 16 years on a precarious contract. She (the only trans person in that Ministry), along with 16 colleagues from Salta, is fighting for immediate reinstatement and permanent positions.

The first university cafeteria run by trans students

This initiative, a collaboration between the LGBTIQ+ collective Devenir Diverse and the student group Estudiantes al Frente, has created eleven jobs for transgender university students at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the National University of Córdoba. The cafeteria has historically been excluded from higher education.

Lesbian couple kicked out of supermarket for kissing

Florencia B. (27 years old) and Irupé B. (23 years old) are girlfriends. On Friday the 20th, they were assaulted by the owner of a supermarket in Morón, in Greater Buenos Aires, while shopping. “He insulted us in front of everyone and nobody did anything,” one of the women said. The couple filed a complaint with the Morón Prosecutor's Office No. 2 and with the National Institute Against Discrimination, Racism and Xenophobia (INADI).
