Pride is celebrated in the streets, plazas, and public spaces of Argentina between September and December, with the largest number of marches taking place in November. In every corner of the country, we celebrate the vitality, joy, passion, and persistence of the LGBT movement, and we reclaim the memory of our struggles. Each march draws attention to the demands of today for building a future with equality and social justice for all. 

Why do most Pride Marches in Argentina take place in November and not in June, as in most countries in the Americas (with the exception of Paraguay, for example) and the Western world? Because while the first Lesbian and Gay Pride March in Argentina —in which some 300 people participated, including Carlos Jáuregui and Ilse Fukova—was held in Buenos Aires on July 3, 1992 (commemorating the Stonewall riots and demanding rights), it was later decided to move it to November to protect HIV-positive individuals from the freezing July weather. The Pride March thus shifted to spring, coinciding with the anniversary of the first Argentine LGBTQ+ organization: Nuestro Mundo (Our World).

CABA (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires)

Is the date being changed?

Following the arrival of Pope Leo XIV, the City Government issued a resolution prohibiting any public events between November 6th and 13th.
Organizations that are part of the Pride March Organizing Committee (COMO) maintain that it will take place on the 7th, as do those that are part of the Historical Line Commission. 

Legislators Vanina Biasi and Amanda Martín presented bills demanding that Buenos Aires Mayor Jorge Macri allow the march to take place. The City Government, by not being present, is denying the security, restrooms, and infrastructure necessary to ensure the event's success. The Archbishop of Buenos Aires, García Cuerva, stated that this is not a matter of the Church against diversity, but rather a lack of capacity on the part of the Buenos Aires government to provide adequate support for both events.
A fair and artists will be present in Plaza de Mayo starting at 10:00 AM, followed by the march at 4:00 PM.
