#LGBTIQPrideMarch: Activists take legal action to avoid police repression
Alarmed by the protocol for detaining LGBTI people launched by the Argentine Ministry of Security a few weeks ago, and by police actions in general, organizations and activists filed a preventative action this morning with Court 16 of the City of Buenos Aires. Following the Argentine Ministry of Security's recent detention protocol for LGBTI individuals and police actions in general, organizations and activists filed a preventative action this morning with Court 16 of the City of Buenos Aires. The action seeks to guarantee freedom of expression during today's 26th LGBTIQ Pride march. "The document aims to prevent arbitrary arrests and police abuse . We ask the judge to issue measures ensuring that no armed police personnel are present and that all those involved are visibly identified . Furthermore, we demand the presence of health and human rights personnel during the march and its dispersal. We insist on judicial oversight of the operation, especially at the closing stage, and that if arrests occur during the march and dispersal, the locations where those detained will be held . We also request that neo-Nazi groups prevented from reaching the march," the statement reads.
