Investigation launched into homophobic class

Sources from the faculty's press department confirmed today to Presents The statement also indicated that the teacher's apartment was searched, and that the Department of Violence and Discrimination Complaints will launch an investigation into the incident. Students who were in the class will be summoned for questioning. Sources stated that while there is no history of similar incidents at the university, this does not mean that such an event did not occur. "Our institution has an unwavering commitment to working to guarantee an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or violence based on sexual identity, gender, sexual orientation, class, ethnicity, nationality, or religion," the statement emphasized.

The complaint

On February 16, the Student Center of the Faculty of Medicine (CECIM) filed a complaint with the Department of Violence and Discrimination Reporting to condemn and request an investigation into what happened in a Thursday class during the summer course in Legal Medicine. The complaint concerned a slide that was part of a presentation, in which a professor referred to "homosexuality" in a discriminatory and homophobic manner. The slide read:

HOMOSEXUAL CRIME CAN BE CAUSED BY:

• Presentation of a mental disorder.
• Economic marginalization.
• Having an unstable emotional structure: homicide and/or injuries due to “jealousy or revenge”, which are more violent or bloody than the “homicides of passion” of heterosexuals.
• Jealousy among homosexuals is potentially dangerous.
• PSYCHOPATHIC HOMOSEXUAL: may commit crimes for sexual gratification (corruption), sexual abuse, exhibitionism).
• HOMOSEXUAL PROSTITUTE, TAXI BOY (bisexual): may kill or extort homosexuals who pay for his service when he does not achieve his goal.
• LATENT HOMOSEXUAL: fears for his erotic desire and kills a homosexual in a “sexual vindication attitude” (reassures his questioned virility).

“There is no context that justifies the type of content on the slide. The Student Center leadership expresses its total condemnation of this and any other type of discrimination. Let's not allow these kinds of situations to happen again,” they posted in a statement uploaded to the CECIM Facebook page.
