They come to politics from activism for the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, and transvestites. Meet the pre-candidates running in Argentina's primary elections.

They come to politics from activism for the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, and transvestites. Get to know the pre-candidates running in Argentina's primary elections. Open, simultaneous, and mandatory primary elections (PASO) will be held in Argentina on August 13. Voters will vote on lists of pre-candidates in preparation for the national elections in October, when the Chamber of Deputies will renew 127 of its 257 seats and the Senate will renew one-third of its 72 seats. In Argentina, one of the countries with the most advanced legislation on rights (Equal Marriage, Gender Identity Law), there are very few visible LGBTI people in legislative positions . It is estimated that more than 70 LGBTI people currently hold elected and government positions in Latin America, according to estimates from the III Meeting of LGBTI Political Leaders for Latin America and the Caribbean , held this year in the Dominican Republic. “Today, the number of openly lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people in positions of power is growing rapidly. Five years ago, they could be counted on one hand. These leaders are on the front lines of the fight for equality,” the organizers stated. This list of visible LGBTI candidates in Argentina is not exhaustive: we invite those who are running and are not included to contact us to be added. 1. Hi, how are you? I just wanted to let you know that in the article about the 2017 elections, "Who are the LGBT candidates and what do they propose?", I was missing, haha. I'm the 8th candidate for councilor on LIST 33 of Unidad Ciudadana in Tigre. Greetings.
