Activist, journalist, and PhD in Literature, Bruno Bimbi is a leading figure in the fight for marriage equality in Argentina and Latin America. He has just published his second book, "The End of the Closet: Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Trans People in the 21st Century" (Marea Editorial), in which he paints a portrait of sexual diversity in this era.
Chile took a historic step toward the full recognition of rights: President Michelle Bachelet signed the Equal Marriage Bill. She thanked the LGBTQ+ organizations for their participation and stated: "We know that for full equality, our State must take another step. Equality admits no nuances."
She did so in her final address to the Chilean Congress. Organizations representing sexual diversity and gender identities, along with groups of people living with HIV/AIDS, expressed their discontent with the president's speech. They announced a march for June 24th.
