Why does a person from a diverse sexual/cultural background have to be in Congress or the Legislature?

Because from a position of power, rights are guaranteed and those most in need are protected. A politician must always be at the service of the community. In my experience, as a city councilor, holding a position like this has allowed me to empower myself and give back to the people the trust they placed in me.

When did you decide to run for office and why?

This is my third time running for office. And I'm glad it's this way, because I see so many injustices regarding diversity, both socially and culturally. I believe that every politician always looks out for their own interests and not the well-being of the people. So I decided to work to change that.

How do you think hatred can be combated through politics?

I believe that hatred is combated by giving people a genuine voice. I believe that diversity, the elderly, children, and the homeless are often exploited in campaigns, and that needs to change. Hatred is combated with greater participation from everyone.

Did you think of any strategies to respond to the smear campaigns and disinformation against LGBT people in the media?

No, I never thought about it because there have never been any smear campaigns against the LGBT community in this area. There has always been respect from all political sectors. I didn't have to devise any strategy because we combat any smear campaigns that might occur with real work.

How do we prevent a decline in rights?

We must always be vigilant. During an election campaign, everyone promises everything, but afterward, each government does what suits it best.

What is the first project you are going to present?

My first project is to demand the creation of all neighborhood committees, which are important for diversity and for all social sectors. Because they are a space to be close to the residents.

Recommendation

A film, song, book, or cultural experience that politically influenced you?

A film that really made an impression on me was Analía's Revenge. She was a humble woman whose mother had a very difficult life because of the politicians of the time. So she left, grew up, and returned to take power in her town. She finally triumphed.
