#33ENM2018: Trelew shone with a diverse and plurinational feminism
The 33rd National Meeting of Women, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transvestites, and Transgender People concluded today with a vote by acclamation to choose La Plata as next year's host city. This Monday holiday, Trelew awoke to the remnants of the arrests of women—all of whom have since been released thanks to the efforts of a network of feminist lawyers—and police repression, toward the end of a march that stretched for dozens of blocks.
A trans activist was acquitted: "It was another case fabricated by the police."
Dalma Emilce Lobo is a 39-year-old trans activist: a survivor in Latin America, where trans people have a life expectancy of 35. This week she was tried for attempted robbery. "It was a fabricated case," she has repeated since October 23, 2014.
"I want it to be acknowledged that my dismissal was due to discrimination."
Raúl Julián Bjorklund was fired from the school where he worked as a teacher when he revealed he was going to marry his boyfriend. The school, a private institution in Oberá, already had a discrimination complaint against it. "The teacher's sexuality does not align with the institution's values," they stated. He has already filed a complaint with INADI (National Institute Against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism)...
