[NEWS IN PROGRESS]

Diana Zoe López García was murdered by her partner, who stabbed her in a hotel room in the Balvanera neighborhood. She was 47 years old and the president of Hotel Gondolín , a shelter and social organization for transgender and transvestite people. The community mourns Zoe, a native of Salta and an essential figure, an activist with a strong presence in the streets, and a supporter of vulnerable transgender people , many of whom had recently arrived from other provinces to work in Buenos Aires.

"She was a real trooper, she built up the whole Gondo, she never left. They fought with Marisa to get the Gondo remodeled. She was always telling the girls they had to work, to study. She was always there. She was a source of support for all the girls, who come from all over the country. We are devastated," they told Presentes from Gondolín.

Since the approval of the transgender employment quota in Argentina , Zoe had been working at the Casa Rosada (the presidential palace). It was her first formal, registered job. There will be an event at the Casa Rosada tomorrow.

According to the police report, her partner, Fabián Norberto Villegas, called 911 on Saturday afternoon to report the attack. When the ambulance arrived, Zoe was unconscious. She died from a knife wound to the groin. Initially, the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 11, under Judge Pezzati, intervened. Villegas is being held for "Aggravated Homicide," and it is expected that he will face additional charges due to the fact that it was a transfemicide .
