On Saturday afternoon, the 5th Pride March was held in Barrio 31 Padre Mugica in Retiro, Buenos Aires. This march is a unique, multinational, and grassroots event that precedes the main LGBTI+ Pride march in the capital and sets its own agenda.
Community-based LGBTQ+ organizations and residents marched under the hot sun to demand their rights in a heated social and political climate. "A real quota for transvestites and trans people in the City of Buenos Aires" read one of the main signs. The quota is the law, but it is not enforced in many places. There were also expressions of rejection towards presidential candidate Javier Milei, and a closing rally where, in addition to job quotas, children's rights were demanded.
