ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay. Usha Didi Gunatita was a pioneer of trans activism in Paraguayan entertainment. She was part of the first transgender theater cast and was a performer, activist, and actress, but above all, a staunch defender of LGBT rights.
September is LGBT Remembrance Month in Paraguay, where the tragic weeks of persecution of the homosexual community are remembered, following the murder of Bernardo Aranda (murdered in 1959) during the dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner.
In this comic created by Juliana Quintana with illustrations by Sofi A. Heyn, Presentes revives the figure of Usha as a trans activist.
