Santa Fe: Alejandra Ironici's partner charged with her transfemicide

This morning, the Santa Fe courts held a hearing for the hate crime committed against Alejandra Ironici. "It was a transfemicide," the prosecutor declared. She also applied the term "femicide."


SANTA FE CITY, Santa Fe. The preliminary hearing was held this morning in the case investigating the death of Santa Fe transgender leader Alejandra Ironici, who was found murdered last Sunday. The victim's current partner, a 32-year-old man with the initials DHB, was arrested for her death.

Prosecutor Alejandra Del Río Ayala stated that "he is accused of stabbing the victim 46 times, resulting in stab wounds and causing her death, especially those in the neck and face, according to the autopsy." She also confirmed that the attacker threw alcohol on her and set fire to part of her body.

Alejandra Ironici, a pioneer in the transvestite and transgender struggle, on the day of her registration change at the Santa Fe Government House.


It was a transfemicide

"Given the context and the person, given that she was a well-known figure, she was a woman who dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of people, primarily trans people; this means that this isn't a common crime, but rather a transfemicide . And there's also the possibility of femicide, because she was a trans woman, and, of course, the aggravating factor of the relationship because they were a couple ," he listed.

Prosecutor Alejandra Del Río Ayala, the hearing for the transfemicide of Alejandra Ironici concludes today.

When asked specifically about the motive for the crime, Ayala Del Río remarked: "It was hate." The prosecutor confirmed that multiple items were seized and that some of the evidence will be presented on Friday at the precautionary measures hearing.
Regarding the possible sentence for the accused, she clarified that there are three charges that could result in life imprisonment.


At the end of the hearing, Pamela Rocchi, a transgender leader from Santa Fe, expressed her pain and anger, asking that "Alejandra be the last." Regarding the aggravating factors, she emphasized that " it is very important for our community to classify this as transfemicide, and it is important to talk about cisgender violence."
