Presentes co-director Ana Fornaro spoke with Franco Torchia about the week's LGBT news in the region: the brutal attack on a trans man in Tucumán, which sparked protests in that city and in Buenos Aires; a young Peruvian trans woman who left her country to escape transphobia was murdered in Buenos Aires; the courts called on transvestites and trans people to collectively demand decent housing, given the structural deprivation they face; the agreement, currently only verbal, among legislators in Salta to eliminate the infraction that protects local police in the persecution and criminalization of transvestite and trans people, and the question: how do you re-educate the police? Finally, they discussed the current state of LGBT candidacies in Argentina leading up to October.
