The province of Chaco made history this afternoon by unanimously approving the "Lohana Berkinks-Diana Sacayán" transgender employment quota project. This initiative aims to promote the inclusion and participation of transgender, transsexual, and gender-diverse people in the social, economic, political, and cultural life of the country.
The bill was introduced by Daniel Trabalón, a provincial deputy from the Frente Grande party, in conjunction with LGBTQ+ activists. The law promotes hiring and employment in public and private organizations, aiming to overcome social inequalities.
In Argentina, trans people have a life expectancy of 35 to 40 years, a result of exclusion and lack of access to health, education and employment.

The provincial State of Chaco, its decentralized or autonomous agencies, non-state public entities and state companies, will be obliged to integrate transvestite, transsexual and transgender people, who meet the suitability conditions for the position, in a proportion not less than one percent (1%) of the total staff for each entity.
