The director of Presentes, María Eugenia Ludueña, spoke with Franco Torchia about the repercussions of the enactment of the Gender Identity Law in Chile and the complaint in international forums regarding the exclusion of minors under 14 years of age.
They also noted that it does not address access to rights beyond legal gender change. Regarding Argentina, they discussed the indictment in the attempted murder of Claudia Vázquez Haro, president of Otrans, in May 2017; and the case of the teacher expelled in the City for marrying another woman.
Among the news stories from the region, the most prominent was the presentation of the report "Waiting for Death," about how transgender people live and die in Paraguay. Also noteworthy was the campaign by anti-rights groups in the country and their advance against the implementation of the Comprehensive Sex Education Law. Finally, there was the responsibility of journalists who are part of these groups and who use their platform to promote crime and incite hatred.
