Chilean courts have found the killers of Marcelo Lepe, a young man shot dead in 2016 on the streets of the San Bernardo district, guilty. Juan Carlos Altamirano and Constanza Opazo Rondanelli were convicted of "simple homicide" with the aggravating circumstance of discrimination based on sexual orientation.
The "little injection" is part of that buggy ritual, those many rituals that have become part of our daily lives over the years. And even though we've normalized it, it's still hard to swallow. The civil registry will offer a third option for registering intersex people. The decision stemmed from a court ruling. Now Parliament must create a law.
