Group photo to demand justice for Diana Sacayán
The sixth hearing scheduled for today, Wednesday, May 2nd, in the trial for the transphobic murder of Diana was very brief, incorporating expert reports through readings. It was very brief because the witness did not appear. The activism that has accompanied each stage of the proceedings in court to raise awareness and demand justice in "the trial of all trans women" was present despite the rain.

What is being judged
Diana Sacayán—an activist, leader of MAL (Anti-Discrimination Liberation Movement), and alternate secretary of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association for Latin America and the Caribbean (ILGALAC)—was found murdered on October 13, 2015, in her apartment in the Flores neighborhood, where she lived with a friend. She had been stabbed 13 times. So far, forensic evidence has identified a 23-year-old man as the perpetrator. David Marino is on trial for aggravated homicide with premeditation, hate, and gender-based motives. The investigation continues to try to find another perpetrator, but that aspect is still open and is not part of this trial. The family's legal team, led by Say Sacayán, her brother and leader of MAL, is represented by lawyer Luciana Sánchez. The National Institute Against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (INADI), represented by Juan Kassargian, is also acting as a plaintiff. Ariel Yapur and Mariela Labozzetta from UFEM (Specialized Prosecutor's Unit for Violence against Women and LGBTIQ+ people) are involved on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office.READ MORE: This happened at the previous hearing of the trial.
