Lesbian, bisexual, and trans women were highly visible at the #8M march through downtown Asunción. They were among the more than 6,000 women who demanded equal pay and recognition of domestic work and caregiving, and who protested against harassment and workplace violence, among other demands.
Mariana Gómez, 25, who was assaulted by police while kissing her wife Rocío Girat at the Constitución subway station, will continue to face legal proceedings. This decision was made by the Criminal and Correctional Court of Appeals of the City of Buenos Aires.
From Plaza de Mayo towards Congress, the march is tight, slow, and powerful. In this feminist strike that mobilized half a million people in Buenos Aires alone, dissident women, lesbians, trans people, and transvestites made their voices heard and felt.
