Chile: Women denounce torture of lesbians and trans people by the Gendarmerie before the UN

They also denounced that Chile has not approved same-sex marriage, a gender identity law, or reformed the Anti-Discrimination Law 20.609, despite both being international commitments.

Finally, it was reported that Law No. 20.480 on the Criminalization of Femicide does not consider trans women, and that Law 20.066 on Domestic Violence is unclear regarding the rights of LGBTI people. The reporting organizations hope that, based on their complaint, the UN will make recommendations and/or demands to Chile to improve the quality of life of lesbian, bisexual, and trans women.
