In response to the transphobic campaign that began circulating through the streets of Santiago and Valparaíso with the #HateBus, the Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation (Movilh) took to the streets with the #DiversityBus. "There was repression by the police, who prevented us from following the #HateBus continuously along its route," the organization reported. Photos: Twitter @Movilh. At 9:30 a.m., the #DiversityBus parked in front of the Government Palace with about twenty activists on board. In the street, a crowd was divided between those who supported the initiative of the Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation (Movilh) and those who were in favor of the #HateBus. "When the Movilh bus tried to move, the police parked in front of it so we couldn't advance, thus allowing the #HateBus to circulate freely." “That situation continued throughout the morning,” Oscar Rementería of Movilh told Presentes. By late afternoon, the activists had received no response from the authorities regarding the police actions. “They didn’t allow us to address our complaints, so we had to stop traveling through the capital because it was becoming too difficult with the police harassment,” he added. The “hate bus” is part of a campaign by the Spanish ultraconservative Catholic organization HazteOír, which began circulating today in the streets of Santiago and Valparaíso with the slogan #KeepYourHandsOffMyChildren.

Movilh stated that they will continue to deploy the #BusDeLaDiversidad "to pursue and provide informational follow-up every time the #BusDelOdio circulates through the city streets."   ]]>
