A lysergic chanson. High and low notes alternate, subverting all generic rigidity. The songs, brimming with humor and popular references, become a platform for stories that wander along the edges of the contemporary. Presentes asked five questions to chronicler, documentarian, and all-around performer Juan Tauil, in the context of the presentation of "Medicada." On Sunday, October 29, Sentime Dominga will perform at Los Chisperos, San Lorenzo 365, San Telmo (CABA).
-How was the character “Sentime Dominga” created?
– Stumbling along, with pain and loneliness, like any genesis of a new, dissident identity. Sentime Dominga is a migrant dandy from the bleeding interior of the Motherland, who recounts what he sees, what he feels, what he lives. He refuses to be a mere witness like I, Juan. He's a character with lifelong friends with whom he travels a thousand dusty roads. Valeria Cini, Itu Itulain, Veroki Barrera, Martín Santagada, and Matías Okosi are those friends, with whom we have a lot of fun, create, and share dreams and a vision of the world.– The band's first album was “Operada” (2013), now the second is “Medicada”. Are we on the verge of a trilogy of interventions?
Yes, "Ida" is coming, and it's going to be a departure, an externalization, an exit from the physical body. While "Operada" was pure earth, with the memories and aromas of my homeland, Santiago del Estero, "Medicada" is more heart, feeling... the loving kind and the kind that has to do with politics; because politics is feeling, desire. "Ida," naturally, is going to be a vehicle to escape reality... and I can't say any more...

– Queer or integrationist band?
– I prefer using "mostra" rather than "queer". We are a group of "monsters" who play wherever we canWherever we find the space to do it: in a museum, in an art gallery, at a friend's house, in a city cultural center, in the courtyard of Indio Froilán, in Santiago del Estero. Friends and friends of friends listen to us, and we love this openness with which we move.-What key ingredients – of any kind – does “Medicada” have?
– The key ingredient in “Medicada” is irony. Clichés are also something I use when I want to have fun, when I want to denounce the system. I don’t do it as ironic consumption, but as a product of today’s society, full of contradictions. Many people get angry with me when, for example, a Western-style electric guitar plays in a song about Santiago… and I invite them to come and see that the resemblance to the American Wild West is very obvious, in our own way, of course.
What can we expect at a Sentime Dominga show?
With an alchemy between the countryside and the city, and the virtuoso contribution of singer-songwriter Valeria Cini, autobiographical texts are always interwoven into a woody musical tapestry, with rhythmic tapping and bass drums that resonate amidst deep swoons, as if we were traveling in a sulky. A dusty glamour of feathers, velvet, and palo santo smoke. You can listen to the album. here.]]>We are Present
