December 1st is World AIDS Day and in Argentina several activities will be carried out, promoted from different fronts.
THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY:
The Argentine Network of Young People and Adolescents Living with HIV (RAJAP) is launching the “Just Like You” campaign. In various provinces, members will be in public spaces asking people to leave messages against stigmatization and discrimination. The network, made up of nearly a thousand young people, held a press conference today presenting updated data on HIV, where they also demanded public policies and denounced the shortage of medication in some localities. “Just Like You” will be in: Bahía Blanca, Córdoba, Corrientes, Jujuy, Mendoza, Neuquén, Posadas, Puerto Madryn, Rosario, Salta, and San Juan. In Buenos Aires, they can be found at the Obelisk. Thursday 1/12 in the afternoon.IN THE SLAUGHTER
“Transvestites in the fight against HIV” is an event to discuss the experiences of trans women, but also to denounce the fact that “it will be ten months since there have been reagents for viral load tests at the San Justo Polyclinic and that medication is being rationed,” Florencia Guimaraes of Furia Trava told Presentes. Also sponsoring the event are: Consejería Diversa La Berkins and MISER. Thursday 1/12 at 5pm in Plaza San Justo.IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL
“Positive Cycle” It kicks off with a panel discussion that serves as a springboard for topics related to HIV and AIDS but addresses all kinds of viruses, whether medical or social. Participants will include members of RAJAP, Mariana Iacono, and Daniela Ruiz. The event will be moderated by journalist Srta Bimbo. Following this, there will be a stand-up comedy performance by Noelia Custodio and music by Paula Maffia. “It’s a meeting place where we talk about HIV but also about other viruses, medical or social. We fight against the worst evil: silence,” she told Presents Lucas Gutiérrez, one of its organizers. Thursday 12/1 at 8pm at Casa Brandon: Luis María Drago 236.
